The Maasai story
Among the Maasai, beadwork has never been decoration alone. Every colour, pattern and layer is a language—worn to mark age, status, courtship and belonging. A young warrior's collar tells a different story to an elder's, and a bride's beadwork can take months of a community's hands to complete.
Nashipai Mara sits inside this living tradition, not beside it. The colours we return to across the property—the black of the land, the red of courage, the green of the grass after rain, the white of peace and the gold of a Mara sunrise—are drawn directly from Maasai beadwork, the same palette worn by the families of Lemek Conservancy today.

Long before this appointment, Mr. Nicholas Murero had become one of Nashipai Mara’s most trusted champions. He shared his knowledge generously, opened important conversations and introduced Nashipai Mara to respected community leaders, conservation partners and hospitality professionals across the Maasai Mara.
Through visits to some of the region’s leading safari properties, he helped create opportunities for dialogue and future collaboration. The warmth with which he was received—and the respect evident in every introduction—spoke to the integrity and relationships he has built over many years.
His support has never been about personal recognition. It has been grounded in a belief that thoughtful hospitality can serve the Mara, its people and future generations.
For these reasons, I am honoured to welcome Mr. Murero as a Board Member of Nashipai Mara. His wisdom, leadership and dedication will help guide us as we build something exceptional, responsible and deeply rooted in place.
